WhatsApp will soon stop working
WhatsApp in old iPhone: WhatsApp will soon stop working on some older iPhone models. According to a report, from May 5, 2025, iOS 15.1 or its newer version will be required to run WhatsApp. This means that iPhone users who cannot update to iOS 12.5.7 will either have to switch to the new label for WhatsApp or get the stable portfolio.
Which iPhones will be affected?
According to WABetainfo report, this change will only affect iPhones that cannot update to iOS 15.1 or above. Frameworks that already have iOS 15.1 or newer will not have any issues.

Currently WhatsApp supports iOS 12 and above. But after the upcoming update, it will only depend on iOS 15.1 or its newer version. WhatsApp has given five months time to the affected students to prepare. During this time they can do their official update or choose an option that supports the new iOS version.
Affected iPhone models
According to the report, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be affected by this change. These iPhones were launched 10 years ago, so the number of these models on WhatsApp is expected to be very less. All those with newer iPhone models and older versions like iOS 15.1 can update their customers online in iPhone’s Settings > General > Software Update.
Why is WhatsApp doing this?
WABetainfo says that the main reason for discontinuing support for older iPhones is the use of advanced technology and APIs in newer versions of iOS. The new iOS version has updated features and technology, which helps WhatsApp develop new features and improve its app. By discontinuing support for the older version, WhatsApp can provide a better experience to your graders and implement features that are not compatible with older operating systems.
Apart from this, it is believed that WhatsApp may have analyzed the number of active customers on older iOS versions. The decision has been taken based on statistics that very few users ban older versions. Thus, WhatsApp can now focus on the new iOS version and work towards better services to most of its users.
