Tariffs and trade war between the US and China have claimed one of their first victims, even though one unexpectedly. In response to the deadline of May 2, the retroids moved Above New Pocket Flip 2 and Pocket Timeline for Classic Shipping. Shipping began earlier this week for Flip 2, in which only yesterday with shipment ramping for pocket classic.
Even stopping any shipment from China to America with Hong Kong Post, we assumed that “no news was good news.” It turns out that it is not so, as a announcement on X (and retroid disorders) was made that Kiwi, Chaiti and Berry would not arrive on time to send colors. The announcement also states that “not all shipping agencies will not accept the US-bound package from China, which is starting from 4/25/25.”

I was not aware of the date of 4/25 cutoff for shipment between the two countries personally. However, it does not come as a surprise given the hostile nature of the situation. Nevertheless, this is not well for anyone, not only for those who pre -order retroid pocket classic. For now, we have the only support that we contact retroly and request a different color, but who knows how long it will be before those supply.
If anything, it is a sign of the coming things, which means that even though you were ready to pay tariff fees for a product, this decision has been completely withdrawn from your hands. Instead, the package will not be accepted at all or if it manages to slip through the cracks, the sender will be returned.
Sure, it is just a gaming handheld, which is limited to a niche anyway. But the big question of weight in my mind is how it will affect the 2025 smartphone launch. Practically each phone passes from China at some point, even if it joins the assembly to build some components before going to a factory in Vietnam, India or other places.
Currently, it does not appear that other countries are affected, showing a good chance that it will not affect the upcoming device release. This may not be a case across the board, so it is possible that some equipment is delayed or perhaps a lump sum is canceled. And if you do not think the phone manufacturers are worried about what can happen on the horizon, do not look beyond Apple.
Recently, a report claimed that Apple has flown “at least 10 flights” carrying at least 10 flights iPhones and other products from China in an attempt to avoid tariff wars. According to The Wall Street Journal, “Throngs of American consumers who have run to buy new iPhones in the last one week, hoping that the new tariffs have been hoped to increase Will inspire. “
Another report shows that the Apple is transferring the construction of the iPhone 16E to Brazil, a country that is not affected by tariff controversies between the US and China. Although we have not seen a similar report about Samsung or Google’s devices, we will not be surprised if they start appearing in the coming weeks.
Shortly after loading ten aircraft of Apple’s products, the Trump administration announced that “smartphones and other electronics components would be exempted from tariffs”. All of this stopped the shipment of some equipment in the US after companies such as Razor and Framework, meanwhile, other companies, such as Lenovo with the upcoming Legion GoS, and OnePlus, with Watch 3, raised prices in the attempt to “move forward” of the storm.
Meanwhile, most Android gaming handhelds are completely designed and manufactured in China. And on release, it is a DHL or 4 PX shipment that may transfer to the USPS before landing at your door. And when the retroid is currently being affected, the choice of Ayaino and Vanaxugar has other gaming handheld which is expected to be released in the near future.
Given that the shipping agencies are not clearly not accepting the package, it can perform disaster magic for some of these companies. Alternatively, this may mean that your package needs to be banned in a different country in a different country before transporting your front door. The logistics of that idea alone is enough to give me a hebby gibes, so I do not even want to imagine what it would really like.
The best part about the entire situation is not back and forth between the US and China. This is just how everything is, and that by tomorrow, another disappointing layer is peeled back. Hell, all this can be gone, and we return to how to return to things before January. Sadly, I don’t think it is going to be in the card.
