Google is working on Android XR, its platform for smart glasses and mixed reality headset, offered the first glimpse for some time and at the end of last year. During the recent TED2025 conference, Google offered the first live demo of Android XR in action on a pair of prototype smart glasses, and now this demo is available for easily.
Thus, our only look at Android XR on smart glasses so far is in a video posted by Google in December, where the company has shown some examples of what the software looks and what it will be able to do. But we have seen such a clip for a lot of smart glass, and it rarely works in real life.
During the TED2025 conference, Shahram Izadi of Google led one thing, where the capabilities of Android XR were presented with the help of a pair of prototype glass and Nishtha Bhatia. In the demo, we can see the lenses displaying Android XR. Izadi says that the lens supports a prescription. He was using glasses on the stage to show the speaker notes and said that they join your phone and use “all your phone apps”.
Demo glasses and Android XR shows that a haiku generates on demand with Gemini, then ramps Nisha quickly and then asks Mithun several seconds later after what he saw, asking whether Mithun “holds the title of white book on the shelf, which immediately recalls Gemini, who immediately remembers Gemini. Was, which is now available on the smartphone as part of Mithun Live. Then the same is used to detect the key card of a hotel on the shelf. Immediately also responds in Hindi.
Continuing with XR applications, Gemini sees a record and is capable of recognizing it and finds a song from the record that is played on demand. Navigation is then shown with a head-up direction and 3D map.
Subsequently, the same video dives the Android XR on the headset using Samsung’s project Muhan headset, which is being launched the Izadi retreat later this year. This demo goes into examples of what can do in the Gemini headset, which line up with our hands experience last year. Some demos include Google Maps Emarsiv Views and use Gemini to get tips while playing stardyu valley.
