A UI has turned into Samsung’s worst Android update in 7 years

Samsung has done something incredible with a UI 7. Easily Samsung’s largest Android update. In the years, a UI7 has sufficient new features and a very important fresh coat of paint across the board-it is the most pleasant piece of Samsung software that I have used in a long, long time.

Such a poorly handled update would have been disappointing, but it kills everyone more, given that – dirty release on one side – a UI7 is very good. But that dirty release cannot be ignored. Finally, it seems that Samsung should have been the best update over the years and has turned it into one of the worst.

I have been using a UI 7 from the end of January, first on Baby Galaxy S25 and recently on Galaxy S25 Ultra. I have not been the biggest fan of a UI for the last several years, but after spending a quality time with a UI 7, I am completely surprised and impressed by how much I have liked to use it.

For one thing, some flagship features, such as now, are everything I expected. Although it is a shameless entertainment of live activities on iOS, I cannot deny how useful the bar is now. Live sports scores appear automatically and updated on the lock screen have been treated, especially during the early days of March insanity last month. Watching the ongoing timer is very helpful on the day of washing clothes, and music playback controls look great.

I am also really happy with the new camera app. Finding a well -designed camera app in 2025 is surprisingly difficult (just ask Apple), but I think Samsung has done a great job with its new layout in a UI 7. It is a simple touch, but to pursue the timer settings, exposure levels, and more from the bottom of the screen-and hidden them behind a well-held pop-up menu.

A UI 7 has a lot of other headline features, such as updated to updated tools, new video recording options, and Drawing Assist -like AI image generator tools. They are well and good for those who cares for them, but I have been more affected by small, day-to-day changes.

One such thing is that vertical scrolling app drawer. As it may seem foolish, Samsung’s old horizontal app drawer is one of my greatest annoyance with a UI for a long time. It is not that it was bad in itself, but in a world where every other Android skin uses a vertical scrolling list, whenever I use Samsung phone, a horizontal one goes back to one. It did not add anything beneficial; It was just different for this.

It is a matter of the past in a UI 7, and honestly, I cannot be happy. It is incredible how such a simple change can cause such a big difference, but it does. The vertical app drawer seems more natural, easy to use, and removes a constant annoyance with Samsung’s software. In daily use, it is a very important update.

And this is not just an app drawer. I also like the new recent app menu, which shows more apps at once and has a very sophisticated feeling. Good animation is a hell of one thing, and Samsung said how it is smooth/fluid that swipes through apps here. The option of large app folders on home screen is very good. I didn’t initially think I would care to him, but they have quickly become a staple of my home screen (and I missed something when using Google’s Pixel software).

Finally, I am a great fan of a UI7’s re -designed quick settings/notification panels. Split design has taken some time to use, but the more I interact with it, the more I am coming around it. And for those days when it is not just clicking, I like to be able to switch back to the “old” design. Even more, I think Samsung hit a nail on the head with his new quick settings UI. It is clean, polished and adaptable as usual.

On their own, none of these things are all important. But when you combine everything together – a better app drawer, better folder, a good camera app, etc. – it makes an Android skin that I want to come back. This is nothing that I have felt about a UI over the years, and it is a will how good a UI7 is actually.

Unfortunately, as much as I like to use a UI 7 day-to-day, I am not sure that once you are a factor in the full cluster around its release, how much it matters.

Over the last few years, Samsung has been one of the better Android companies in updated games. Not only has its seven -year updated policy among the best in business, but Samsung has also entered a good rhythm of immediate updates. Whatever reasons, however, it struggles extremely to get a UI 7 in the hands of the people.

It started late to start a UI 7 beta. Then Samsung went without any indication where the final release was. And when a UI7 finally began to roll for equipment, Samsung had to temporarily stop it to fix the bug, it did not somehow serve in six months between the initial release of Android 15 and a public launch of a UI7.

As much as I like to use a UI 7, I hate everything around it. Whereas everyday users cannot care about this whole situation or even people like you and me – Android enthusiasts – absolutely. And for us, it is a difficult thing that bounce back.

This can be a one -time temporary from Samsung, but what will happen if it is not? What if it is a new ideal for Samsung updates from here? If a UI is barely rolling for users on 7 April 2025 – and Android 16 is to be released in June – why should we not believe that a UI 8 will be behind the Schedule in the same way? How do we expect Samsung to return to the track?

Almost more than a UI 7, Samsung has built a mountain of uncertainty around its update that is moving forward. It is uncertain that the company had miraculously overcomposed since a decade ago, but in just six months period, all of this is again piled up.

No matter how you cut it, it is a bad look for Samsung. Especially in a year when we should celebrate everything that Samsung got right with a UI 7, we leave with the stuff that Samsung remains stored on it. It has been transformed into an exceptional update into a tiredness, and it is not good for anyone.
